NEW PARK SITE
Development of a brand new park to serve the northwest area of Roswell currently named Delta West Park.
Plans call for enhancements to park user comforts with more picnic tables, park benches, litter receptacles, handicap accessible drinking fountains and picnic shelters.
New buildings and renovating existing structures include new ADA standards rest rooms, enlarging the Parks & Recreation administration building to better serve the community, safety fencing to safeguard park users, USDA required zoo fencing to protect both animals and visitors, improvements to the zoo animal health & kitchen facility, and completion of the zoo administration/education building.
For more efficient water and manpower usage plans call for irrigation renovation to several park sites. To reflect Roswell's "oasis" image more and better adapted trees, shrubs, and turf (grass cover) are needed in many parks and at the Spring River Zoo for animal habitat enhancement.
To better serve the growing population of Roswell, new features include sand volleyball courts, lighting of activity areas, ADA accessible play units, re-surfacing tennis courts, establishing a trail head for the Spring River Recreation Trail, outdoor basketball courts, off street parking, a walking trail and a central plaza for visitor services at the Spring River Zoo.
