Joseph,

I can give you a few comments about the weather in Roswell. Average winter high temperatures are in the 50s with lows in the mid 20s. There will be a few days that reach the 70s, and an average of 4 or 5 days when the mercury stays below 32 all day long. On rare occasion, temperatures fall below zero, and have been in the -20 to -30 range during super arctic outbreaks. Snowfall averages about 10-11 inches a year. Snows usually come and go quickly. Winter is generally dry, with only an average of 1.5 inches of precipitation (included melted snow) from December through February. Spring temperatures generally range from the 70s and 80s daytime to 40s and 50s at night. The most significant feature in New Mexico's spring is wind...with a few days having gusts over 50 mph. Highs in the summer reach the low to mid 90s most days, with lows 60-65. About 10-12 days top 100 degrees, with 114 the all-time maximum. Thunderstorm season usually begins around the first of May and extends through mid-September. Precipitation is evenly distributed those months with the area receiving rainfall an average of about one of every three days May-September. Some storms produce hail, high wind and tornadoes in the Eastern Plains of New Mexico, especially during May and June. Fall is much like spring except for less wind. Total annual precipitation averages 12-14 inches per year, depending on exactly where you are around Roswell. Hope that helps./Charlie
